The best credit card deals are for people who pay their balance in full, and on time each month. If you carry a balance, the best deals around are in low interest credit cards, which will save you much more money than the offers listed here.
I have great credit. How do I get the most from my credit card use?
The best credit card deals are in ‘cash back’ cards, where at the end of the year, you get a percentage of what you spent as credit on your bill. Some credit cards give 2% cash back. If your family spends $25,000 a year on the credit card, you get $500 dollars back. This is a better deal than many bank accounts give you!
What about gas cards? Airline cards?
These cards are design to make you loyal to one brand. I tend to buy from whoever is cheapest, or has the best deals, so these cards don’t save me as much money in the long run.
What about the GM card?
If you love GM, and know that your next vehicle is going to be from General Motors, then this card can be a great deal for you. You do get 5% earnings towards your next vehicle, although there are Redemption allowances of around $3000, but it depends on which vehicle you get. Just don’t flash the card around too early when shopping for your car, or you’ll lose some ground in negotiating, as the dealer knows you aren’t going anywhere else. Even the GM website tells you to negotiate your best price before telling them that you are a GM Card member.
